Thursday 24th February – walk **** – Landguard Nature Reserve circuit – Rain/hail in morning then sunny periods with some top clouds:).

The day started wet with both rain and hail so stayed at home and did my exercises, will sort my heel out if it kills me! Then after lunch the sun started to make brief appearances and having windsurfed the last couple of days decided to give it a miss today so Mag and I headed down to the lovely Landguard Nature Reserve for a walk after a quick stop at Lidl. With a brisk west wind, we wrapped up well, parked free in the road at The Manor and set off along the footpath at 2 with some amazing clouds blowing across. Not many birds, we got close to a crow searching for tea in the grass who was not in the slightest bit bothered by us. The yellow gorse was in full bloom and there were rabbits everywhere out munching on the grass as it was very quiet, just how we like it! We continued to the River Orwell where a small survey boat, The Patriot was sailing back and forth close to the shore with several cormorant’s heading to Loompit lake. In fact, it was quite busy out to sea with the Harwich Ferry, the polit boat and a large container ship heading in all framed by the top sky with the windfarm on the horizon! Along the wooden walkway, across the heath to the sea wall and along the sea wall back to the van with what looked like rain falling on the north of Felixstowe! Only a couple of miles but that is as far as I want to walk at the moment especially with Mag not feeling a 100% either! Home for yummy homemade cake with a cuppa and my good week for pictures continues as I get one of this afternoon pics on the ITV About Anglia’s weather:)
Some breeze coming over the coming days but with poor tides for my river venue and still not keen on open sea sailing I am not sure what to do?
